Problem: The instructor of
a course would like to allow students to post videos in response to an original
thread. Instead of a vertical thread when he
clicks reply to the initial video it takes him to a page that shows original
post, but there is no option to reply or embed a video. When he clicks quote as
an option when setting up the tread, there is a box to reply but it does not
post anything below the initial video even if he types and submits a response.
Solution: Since
Blackboard is not a video-streaming server; we recommend hosting large videos
on a streaming service such as YouTube (www.YouTube.com) or Vimeo (www.Vimeo.com) and then post links to them in your Blackboard
Discussion Board. YouTube has an “Unlisted” option that you can set so it makes
the video unsearchable and undiscoverable publicly, so it can only be accessed
by the students who have the link.
Follow this link for information about YouTube’s “Unlisted” option –
If the video files are small, you can post them as
attachments directly to your Discussion Board posts in Blackboard using the
“Add Quicktime Content” button on the toolbar. To do this, go into the thread
you would like to post the video in, and click on “Reply”. In the toolbar you
will see a little icon that looks like the Quciktime icon, click on that, find
the file, apply settings as appropriate and click on “Submit”.

how to add a Quicktime video to a Discussion Board post-
